In midst of Wars.

In the darkness of wars, where destruction and chaos prevails, there exists a chilling truth that begs our attention - 'Women as silent victims'. Wars have never done good to anyone; everybody suffers but when it comes to women we need to ponder a bit. I am not going to provide any data here instead, I will dig into a heart wrenching reality.

Imagine a situation where you are a women, living in a war affected region. Bombs are falling, buildings are crumbling, people are dying around you and your family in threatened. As a woman you are given warnings that, in order to save your family you need to surrender you body to the rivals or else your family will have to face execution. What will you do in this situation?

Imagine another situation which is again set in a war torn country. Where partners of women are subjected to extreme torture. In order to save their loved ones, women are forced to face daily torture i.e., from physical harassment to mental torture.  Have you heard the story of Akku yadav?  Anyways! that is something different.

My questions to the men around are,  that why are women made soft targets during wars? Why are they made to parade naked? Why are they raped among amidst of war ? Why do militants take advantage of the situation? Why do we often find that women are forcefully made vulnerable? Why do men try to win on another just by attacking on women? Do men try to hide their weaknesses by attacking women at wars?

Does the answer to this lies in our society? Is it deeply ingrained gender inequality in our mind which persist even at times of wars. Or is it because what's a war without gender-biased violence. Rape, oh what an artistic choice! When it comes to war, why not use it as weapon of fear? After all, it's not about love, it's about making a statement. When women are raped in midst of chaos and destruction, it's not just a crime; it's performance art. It sends a clear message to the audience : "We're not here to play nice."

Times has changed drastically. In TRETA YUGA, where war was caused because an evil abducted a  mighty woman. A bit forward to DWAPARA YUGA, where basic reason behind war was a woman's honour.  Fast forward to KALIYUGA  where men to win over their rival use women as soft targets.  Is that what we have learnt from our history?

Now let's talk about consequences, shall we? Survivors of these atrocities carry scars of their performance for a lifetime (only if they survive).  And bravo to the social stigma that add to their burden,  for their whole life. Resulting to their isolation from the society.  Their  family carries this heavy weight for a  lifetime.

I plead you to shift your perspective. Imagine being in shoes of these women. Feel the vulnerability, the fear, the unimaginable pain. The truth is that you don't need to be in war zone in order to sympathize with their plight. You simply need to open your heart and mind to their stories. We must realize that this is harsh reality in today's world. The situation of women in wars, is not an isolated issue ; it reflects our collective failure as human. In conclusion, remember that empathy and action goes hand-in-hand. And therefore my dear readers, I urge you to be human. Humanity is all that is required in our society.

Be a human first!
